On a day when three Little League District 7 champion teams were eliminated from their state tournaments, the York National Major (age 11-12) baseball team improved to 2-0 in its pool with a 14-2 win against Upper Loudoun American, virtually ensuring advancement to elimination play in Lynchburg.
Junior baseball:
Austin Phillips and Robbie Torrey each drove in three runs as York American's 13 and-14-year-olds stayed alive by improving to 1-1 in their tournament in Bristol, rolling past Lower Loudoun 11-0 in an elimination game.
The triumph advanced them into a 1 p.m. Sunday elimination game against Louisa.
Pitcher Gabe Simmons got the victory, Phillips batted 3-for-3 and Torrey 2-for-3 with a triple and double.
Justin Parrish was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs, and Rayvon Patrick was 1-for-1 with an RBI double.
Age 10-11 baseball:

York National finished 0-3 at the tournament in West Springfield with a 15-5 loss to Clarke County, which overcame a 4-1 deficit.
For York National, Parker McLamb was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run, Patrick Flemming was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Byron Evans was 2-for-3 with a run, and Ethan Slaton was 1-for-1 with two runs. Jake Brewer was 1-for-3 with a run, and Colby Dye was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Age 9-10 baseball:
York American was ousted with an 8-3 loss to Cave Spring of Roanoke, finishing pool play in Richmond at 1-2.
Age 9-10 softball:
Warwick (0-2) was bounced 10-0 by Richmond County and completed pool play in Lebanon 0-2 without scoring a run.
