Does anyone know where I can find infromation about grants for veterans?
I am a veteran, Honorable discharged in 2009. I was a Navy Corpsman for 13 years and been going to school to become a RN. I have all my nursing pre reqs done but my GI Bill is going to run out in July 2012. Does anyone know where I can look for grants of paying for nursing school?.. Thank you for help.
If you have not completed and submitted the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid ? http://www.fafsa.ed.gov ) then you should do that for the 2012-2013 school year. You may or may not qualify for Pell Grant funds. You will probably be offered a Federal subsidized student loan (the best deal) to help cover your costs.
Since you are studying to be a nurse (good for you), then if you have not already investigated the National Health Service Corps options (scholarships, loan forgiveness in the future), you can find out about them here:
* http://nhsc.hrsa.gov/
The school you are attending may offer scholarships to nursing students. Be sure to talk with a financial aid counselor at your school about your financial aid options after the GI Bill funding ends.
Also, a reference librarian at your campus library can help you find scholarships for nursing students for which you may be qualified to apply. Go to the campus library and ask a reference librarian for his/her assistance.
You can also look for scholarships for which you may qualify/to which you may wish to apply by using what I think is the best, most reliable database: Scholarship Search offered by the well-respected College Board:
* http://apps.collegeboard.org/cbsearch_ss/welcome.jsp
Click on the Start link in the middle of the text.
If you choose to register (free) so you may return later and modify your search strategy, feel secure that you will not receive spam emails. A campus reference librarian can advise you on using Scholarship Search and give you tips on how not to select too many defining terms in your search strategy, which may result in a poor scholarship search result.
For example, using the Scholarship Search database, I found the Tylenol Future Care Scholarship for which you may be qualified ? click on the link to the actual scholarship web pages for full info:
* http://apps.collegeboard.org/cbsearch_ss/details.jsp?xy=38
Added: The Tylenol Future Care Scholarship 2012 process begins March 12, 2012. You can read more about the scholarship program here:

Regarding scholarships for Fall-Spring 2012-2013 school year use, the deadlines for many scholarships have already passed or are coming up soon.

government grants for youth programs Go to topdaughter make a wish was to visit australia it was granted we are coming in march 2012 do we need adaptors for?
My 17 yr old daughter make a wish was granted. Her wish was to visit Australia we are going in March 2012. We are very excited about coming. What are the electrical differences and do we need adapters. She is taking college classes so she will still need to have her computer. We need to know if we need adapters. Thanks
You don?t say which country you are from so you must be American
Australian supply voltage is 220V. Most modern electronic devices (computers, phone chargers, etc.) accept a wide range of input voltages so should be ok. Check the label on the device. If it says something like ?Input 110 ? 240 VAC? it will work in Australia. If it says ?110 ? 120? then it won?t.
For electrical devices like hairdryers you will need a step-down voltage converter. Don?t use a voltage converter with an electronic device though because you?ll probably destroy it.
You?ll also be needing adaptors to convert your US-style plugs to the strange angled-pin Australian ones. You?ll pick those up on ebay.
Australia?s voltage is 220-240v so if you?re from a country that uses 120v like the USA or Canada, you will only be able to use your electrical appliances and devices if they are dual voltage. Virtually all laptops, computers, phone and battery chargers are dual voltage but you should check the devices to make sure they will work with 220-240v. High power appliances like hairdryers and straighteners are rarely dual voltage and you will have to use a step down power converter or they will be fried if you plug them into Australian mains power. Pretty well all hotels and motels have an international voltage plug in the bathroom so if you?ll be staying in that type of accommodation, you?ll manage without a power converter.
You will definitely need cheap (

How can I have grants removed from a Community College on my FAFSA?
I?m currently enrolled at a university and the financial aid office won?t approve my award package for 2011-2012 year due to the fact that I have grants that have not been disbursed at the college I used to attend. I was wondering how can I have these grants removed from my FAFSA so that my award package can be approved at the university?
Thanks.
Can you transfer the grants over? If not, then get a letter from the community college that says that you are not eligible to receive those grants at their college. Also, ask FA what they would need.
this is one of the reasons why some school?s won?t even allow you to change schools in mid-year
anyway?. contact the CC Fin Aid office, let them know your problem
make sure you have correctly withdrawn from the CC
and that you have done your Fin Aid ?Exit? for FAFSA
if you don?t do the Fin Aid FAFSA Exit thing, then this could be part of the hold-up
then ask the CC what else needs to be done to make this process work
has the uni even verified that it can offer those same grants to you?
For example FSEOG? your CC might have held it for you
but the Uni may have used all of theirs
this is something that won?t transfer from one school to another? because each school only gets a certain amount they can use (it is only yours to use at that particular school)
Apparently you didn?t list your new school on your 2011-12 application.
If you had, then both schools would have been eligible to receive funds in your name.
But, it?s also why most schools don?t allow mid-year transfers ? because the paperwork hang-ups can be problematic.
You really need to contact your old school.
