Pad & Quill announces Aria case for iPad mini

Pad & Quill announces Aria case for iPad mini

Pad & Quill, purveyors of fine, old world cases for latest, high-tech Apple gear, have announced their newest addition, the Aria case for the iPad mini. Here's what Brian Holmes of Pad & Quill told us about Aria:

The Aria is constructed with American Top Grain leather, robust stitiching, hand finished wood and our signature 'bookmark' The spine wrap cleverly disguises a crease that allows the case to prop in multiple angels!

Unlike the original P&Q series, where moleskin made for hipster chic, the Aria, like their other recent leather-ware, has an older-world vibe, like the tomes found in limited edition bookshops or wizard's towers.

Best Buy Electronics Recycling Program ? How To Clear Old Tech ...

best buy recycle

I was in computer sales for over ten years. One thing that I learned early on is that technology is changing and improving every day, and as a result computers become outdated almost before they are sold. So if you?re a tech lover like me, you can end up with quite the computer graveyard over time. Consumer electronics are now the fastest growing wastestream on the planet. I shouldn?t be surprised about that. I love tech. I have outdated computers all over the place ? at the bottom of my closet, one in the living room, three in the garage, and one under my bed. What to do? You can?t just throw them away in the trash. You can?t just stick them in your recycling bucket either. And so they accumulate. What?s a tech lover to do?

Recycle. It makes sense. We recycle so many other things, why not tech products. I recently learned that Best Buy currently offers an in-store recycling program. As one of the world?s largest consumer electronics retailer, they want to be part of the solution to the consumer electronics waste problem. The Best Buy Recycling Program is an in-store solution for customers to bring their old, unused, or unwanted consumer electronics. You don?t even have to have purchased the items you?re recycling from Best Buy to take advantage of it. Best Buy recycles 387 pounds of electronics each minute their stores are open. That?s a lot of tech products! The great thing is that Best Buy works with recyclers to actually recycle your products, rather then ship them to other countries to be repurposed. The program is available for free at all Best Buy stores in the US, including the ones in Puerto Rico.

Computers aren?t the only things that Best Buy will recycle. They also recycle

  • TV/Video
  • Stands, Mounts and Furniture
  • Portable TV and Video
  • Car Video
  • Audio
  • Car & GPS
  • Cameras & Camcorders
  • Mobile Phones & Office
  • Music, Movies & Books
  • Video Games & Gadgets
  • Home & Appliances

There are a few exceptions to what can be recycled that are determined by the state you live in.

Wondering what happens to the items you recycle? Here?s a brief video about the process.

I think this sounds like a great program and it will likely only get more popular as technology advances and becomes more affordable.

Currently, Best Buy has some additional recycling programs in addition to the in-store recycling program, including:

  • Recycling Kiosks ? Every US and Puerto Rico Best Buy store has free kiosks, just inside the door, for you to drop off ink and toner cartridges, rechargeable batteries, and wires, cords and cables.
  • Appliance and TV Haul-Away ? Best Buy will remove an appliance or TV free of charge from a customer?s home when a new product is purchased and delivered by Best Buy Home Delivery.
  • Appliance and TV Pickup ? For $100, Best Buy will arrange a home visit to remove up to two appliances or TVs for recycling. For more than two units, add $20 per additional unit.
  • Trade-In @ Best Buy ? Customers can visit wwww.bestbuy.com/tradein to trade-in select gently used electronics for a Best Buy gift card.

Did you know that Best Buy carries a whole line of Energy Star certified products as well? Consider recycling your old electronics and upgrading to more energy efficient ones.

What do you do with your old tech products? If you have any experiences recycling at Best Buy I?d love to hear about them.

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. As always, any personal opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced by the sponsor.

Ease The Geek Rage: Obama?s Technically Right, There Is a Jedi Meld

250px-ForcemeldPresident Obama inadvertently triggered national geek outrage, after he mistakenly mixed up the warring science fiction universes of?Star Wars and?Star Trek. During a press conference related to recently triggered budget cutbacks, known as the "sequester," he said, "I can?t do some kind of Jedi Mind Meld on congressional Republicans," referring to the partisan gridlock that has prevented Congress from passing a budget. Twitter immediately lit up with comments poking fun of the fact that Obama mixed up Star Wars' 'Jedi Mind Trick', used for mind control, and Star Trek's Vulcan 'Mind Meld', for sharing thoughts.

Tens of thousands of Yemenis demand Saleh trial

SANAA, Yemen (AP) ? Tens of thousands of Yemenis held mass rallies in the capital and across the country calling for the prosecution of ousted leader Ali Abdullah Saleh, who is under pressure to leave the country for allegedly hindering democratic transition.

The Thursday protests came one day after Saleh appeared publicly for the first time in 18 months. He vowed his party would contest presidential and parliamentary elections next year.

Saleh was forced to step down after a yearlong uprising as part of transfer of power agreement that granted him immunity from prosecution.

A leading member of Saleh's National People's Congress party said foreign ambassadors are pressing Saleh to leave politics and the country.

He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.
